How to Host a Successful Blood Drive

- Schedule the Drive
- Schedule the date and time of the drive. - - Reserve the room or donor coach.
- - Set a blood drive goal.
- - Form a recruitment team.
- Promotion and Marketing
- Communicate marketing support materials from your account representative. - - Plan newsletter announcement, press release and marketing material distribution.
- - Select a theme.
- Recruiting and Scheduling
- Schedule appointments for donors. - - E-mail campaign to potential donors.
- - Host speaking or kick-off event to recruit donors.
- - Schedule sign-up table.
- - Assign departments or floors to recruitment team to personally ask people to donate.
- - Communicate your blood drive goal to group members.
- Day of the Drive
- Clear room of furniture and meet collections staff. - - Post directional signs around building and grounds.
- - Welcome table – schedule volunteers to greet donors and manage appointments.
- - Refreshment table – keep snacks and drinks. easily available and give to all donors.
- -Create excitement with balloons or raffle items.
- - Monitor the donors after the donation.
- - Thank the donors as they leave!

Did you know that businesses and organizations that host blood drives are the "gateway" to more than 50 percent of the blood supply? If every group held just one more drive the blood supply could substantially increase to help patients in our region.
