The Blood Center East Texas commemorated National Day of Prayer on Thursday with its first National Day of Prayer Luncheon, held at Hotel Fredonia in Nacogdoches. The luncheon was an occasion to recognize the faith-based groups that Commit for Life and hold drives with The Blood Center East Texas.

Approximately 77 attendees came together for lunch, followed by an uplifting program that included a personal testimony from Jerry Highnote of The Blood Center East Texas Advisory Board and prayers for different groups in need, offered by the following prayer leaders:

- Deacon David Darby, Sacred Heart Catholic Church
- Mark Wilke, Carpenter’s Way Baptist Church
- David Runnells, Youth Minister, First United Methodist Church, Lufkin
- Bill T. Teague, Former President and CEO of The Blood Center

Al Ross, general manager of KSWP, served as Master of Ceremonies and Honorary Chair of the luncheon.
