Pearland Neighborhood Donor Center celebrates grand opening

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center celebrated the grand opening of its Pearland Neighborhood Donor Center on Thursday, July 26, 2007.  The event was commemorated with a Pearland Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony and a lunch reception.

Mayor Tom Reid and Chamber President Carol Artz were among the dignitaries who spoke on behalf of Pearland, welcoming Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center to the area. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s president and CEO, Brian Gannon, dedicated the center to the generosity of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, which was represented at the event by Jim Faucett, CEO of Memorial Hermann Continuing Care Corporation.

Guests also had the opportunity to hear from someone who has benefited from donors’ generosity firsthand. Elizabeth Lloyd, whose 5-year-old daughter, Kailey, received blood as an infant, shared her testimony and thanks for those who Commit for Life.

This new facility welcomes the Pearland community to help save lives by donating blood at least once a quarter. The center is open Sunday through Thursday with flexible hours to make it convenient for individuals to Commit for Life.
