Success of First Blood Drive Leads Health Care Facility to Commit for Life

Holding your first blood drive is always an exciting venture. The Burke Center, a behavioral health care facility in Lufkin, met with success at its first drive with The Blood Center East Texas in January.

Tricia Jelinek took the reins as the drive's chairperson and was impressed by the turnout. Employees donated 18 units of blood, enough to save as many as 54 lives right here in East Texas.

Due to the positive experience, The Burke Center has decided to become a Commit for Life group and hold drives on a quarterly basis. Jelinek is planning another blood drive this month, and The Blood Center is excited about the lives this partnership will save in Angelina County.
