Congratulations to Zoe Cadore, Chris Carnicle, Stephanie Kauffman and Vickie Liang - 2007 recipients of Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center's Commit for Life annual scholarship program.

Zoe Cadore, of Bay City High School- Essay
Zoe Cadore, of Bay City High School, wrote in her essay, “No matter what we look like on the outside or how we think about different issues, we all have the same blood on the inside. When you donate blood, you are giving to a friend.” Zoe is planning on attending Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia and wants to study theatre and dance with a minor in law.

Chris Carnicle, of Cypress Falls High School - Essay
Chris Carnicle, of Cypress Falls High School, says in his essay that everyone is connected to someone who has had cancer, been in an accident, had open-heart surgery or another procedure requiring blood; and that's reason enough to donate. Chris hopes to become an engineer and may attend Ohio State University or the University of Texas.

Stephanie Kauffman, of Oak Ridge High School - Essay
Stephanie Kauffman, of Oak Ridge High School, says students could continue their commitment to saving lives when they enter college if contacted during winter break and summer vacation, when they are not busy with classes. Stephanie wants to study physical therapy and is considering the University of Evansville in Indiana among her college choices

Vickie Liang, of Westside High School - Essay
Vickie Liang, of Westside High School, wrote in her essay, “helping people is the heart, spirit and core of volunteer work, so what could be more important than saving the lives of others?” Vickie is planning to attend Brown University and pursue a career in medical research, specifically pathology or oncology.
